Senior Managers can expect to:

As a member of the State and Local Tax (SALT) practice, Directors oversee the efforts of multiple client service teams on engagements for a variety of clients. Directors plan, execute, direct, and complete innovative state and local jurisdictional tax planning, consulting, compliance expertise to clients, and tax controversy audit support, working closely with the Commercial and Private Client Services in reviewing multi-state returns and identifying client issues. Directors market, design, and implement tax-planning strategies for clients and manage to budget. Directors conduct secondary review of, and have ultimate responsibility for, complex tax projects. Directors maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, ensure deadlines are met, and lead change efforts effectively. Directors are responsible for managing, developing, training, and mentoring Associates and Managers on tax projects, and assessing performance for engagement reviews.
Experienced Associates with our Cost Segregation practice will gain experience working on accounting and engineering-based projects across a variety of industry sectors.
Industries served include hospitality, gaming, sports, entertainment, recreation, retail, restaurant, manufacturing, high-tech, life sciences, commercial and residential rental real estate, telecommunications, private wealth, and finance and banking.
Experienced Associates will have opportunities to use their skillsets to complete depreciation analyses for newly constructed and acquired facilities, fixed asset valuations, insurance valuations, property tax analyses, and purchase price allocations for tax reporting and financial reporting.
Experienced Associates can expect to:
- Receive training on modeling techniques and draft supporting reports;
- Receive moderate training on estimating tools (e.g., Blue Beam, RS Means, Marshal Valuation Service) and on analyzing construction blueprints;
- Perform cost estimating (e.g., buildings, individual assets, equipment);
- Receive training related to t he Modified Accelerated Cost Recovery System ("MACRS");
- Develop an understanding of the Cost Segregation Audit Techniques Guide;
- Research, organize, and track project data;

Paraprofessionals serve as members of various client service teams and are responsible for a variety of administrative accounting functions. Primary responsibilities include compiling and maintaining accounts payable records on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. Other essential functions include:
- Reviewing all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
- Communicating with vendors to resolve any payment discrepancies
- Compiling accounts payable data into spreadsheets
- Maintaining accurate vendor master lists, with correct addresses, and other necessary information
- Copying, scanning and filing documents/reports
- Assisting with year-end duties including the processing of 1099 information for applicable vendors
- Expense coding of credit card activity

As a member of the M&A services team, Senior Associates participate in advising and consulting clients on issues related to tax efficiency, benefits and risks of potential transitions and issues related to corporate and partnership transactions. Seniors will be responsible for the preparation and review of analysis to assess the federal and state tax consequences of transactions and tax integration of acquired enterprises, as well as managing the work product of Experienced Associates on various engagements.
Senior Associates in the M&A services practice will gain experience in advising clients on a number of transaction tax considerations, including analysis of buyer and seller historical tax positions and attributes, the preparation and presentation of tax due diligence reports, modeling various structuring alternatives, and computing tax cost and benefits associated with proposed transactions.
M&A service team members will also assist clients with post-transaction integration matters, including purchase price allocation and tax amortization calculations, IRC Section 382 studies, Earnings and Profits calculations, transaction cost analyses, and other Subchapter C and Subchapter K tax matters.
Senior Associates must possess strong technical knowledge of corporate and partnership issues and transactional considerations. Senior Associates interact heavily with management on a day-to-day basis and are expected to assist Managers in identifying and researching various client issues, and regularly communicate with clients. M&A service team members also assist the corporate tax group during periods of downtime, assisting various client service teams with general corporate tax matters, including tax compliance and ASC 740.
